Karan Johar is ‘Sorry’ for songs ‘Chikni Chameli’ and ‘Mera Naam Mary Hai’ in his films

Karan Johar is ‘Sorry’ for songs ‘Chikni Chameli’ and ‘Mera Naam Mary Hai’ in his films
Have you ever danced to the beats of ‘Chikni Chameli, ‘Mera Naam Mary Hai’, ‘Munni Badnam Hui’, and such lively songs? And why not? Who doesn’t love such peppy songs with beautiful girls showing some skin? Isn’t it? You will call me a Feminazi, but I don’t. Ever since I was in school, I found those songs cringe-worthy and creepy. Why do we need to object a woman? And why does a Munni needs to degrade her self-respect in order to get loved? Why do people want to  discuss ‘Choli k peeche kya hai?’
You can criticize me and others who hold such viewpoint, but what would you call a filmmaker who himself is sorry for integrating such songs in his films. Yes, Karan Johar Karan has now apologised for including item songs in his movies. Mera Naam Mary Hai (Brothers) and Chikni Chameli (Agneepath) belong to movies produced under Karan Johar‘s banner, Dharma Productions.
In an interview with SheThePeople, KJo spoke about several issues such as Feminism, gender wage gap, female objectification and the recent Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse case.
He further admitted to making the same mistakes and vowed to not repeat them. He said, “The moment you put a woman in the centre and a thousand men looking at her lustingly, it’s setting the wrong example. As a filmmaker, I have made those mistakes and I will never do it again.”
Watch here:

We hope that he actually means what he said. And other filmmakers should realise this as well.
