Haryana Villages End Regressive Traditions In Honour Of Miss World Manushi Chhillar
Manushi Chhillar has recently won the title of Miss World 2017 and has surely made India proud. Manushi brought the Miss World crown back to India after 17 years and is currently talk of the town. Manushi has influenced everyone in the country and her village has decided her to honor her in such a way that it will also develop the village.
Bamdoli village in Haryana is Manushi Chhillar’s ancestral village and the residents of the village have decided to end regressive traditions in her honor.
The Chhillar-Chhikara khap comprising eleven villages in Haryana and Delhi have banned celebratory gunfire during weddings which is a status symbol there but sometimes results in deathly accidents. The khap leaders also banned loud DJ music during weddings which generally resulted in excessive spending and turned many into bankrupts.
Gulab Singh Chhikara of Kahnod village told a leading daily that Manushi’s win was a proud moment for the khap. “With the world’s eyes on us, we wanted to take advantage of the spotlight and bring social change. Our decisions will help end the culture of extravagant spending on celebrations.”
Basti Ram, chief of Chhillar khap, said the decision would show the progressive face of khaps. “Our focus is on social reform,” he said.
The leaders have invited the CM when Manushi arrives and they have planned a huge welcome for the daughter of India. We are really proud of Manushi as because of her, many social reforms are being made in the country.
